"Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn't mean you can, should, or need to do it alone."

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT

My Approach

Clients can expect empathy, compassion, directness, and humor in our sessions; my ultimate goal is to help you heal and flourish in your life. I naturally work from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective and feel that collaboration and rapport are key components in the therapeutic process. I find the connection and depth of sessions are greater when we both bring our whole selves into the room, so you can expect my reactions and emotions to be authentic during our sessions. That being said, I believe the best approach is the one that works for you, so I pull from multiple other therapeutic modalities and theories, in order to best instill self-understanding.

We typically start by establishing a holistic framework that takes into account your individual, communal, historical, and global influences and impacts. With these impacts in mind, we'll move on to unpack events and emotions, rewire automatic thoughts and behaviors, and uproot issues that no longer serve you. I truly enjoy helping clients explore deeper emotional understanding and will help you identify, explore, process, and regulate emotions as they come up.

It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a quick fix. Therapy is a healing process that necessitates mutual participation and investment from the client and therapist alike. Along the way, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with our full spectrum of emotions, can bring life-altering results.

LGBTQ+ Affirming

I welcome people of all gender identities and expressions and people of all sexualities. I commit to creating a safe space for these individuals in a historically unsafe environment. I am open to exploration of gender, sexuality, and relationship style in all its many forms. I commit to be non-shaming, non-pathologizing, open, and supportive.

Culturally Mindful

Being culturally Jewish, I understand that people have different connections to, and feelings about their culture. I strive to be knowledgable of norms across a span of cultures and identities, but will not assume your experience. Individual experiences and how they impact folks on a personal basis is the most important. I listen to and respect people's experiences with religious, and cultural backgrounds, and how they have shaped past and present life.

Anti-Racist

As a white woman, I work to take the steps to be in active allyship with BIPOC communities and individuals. I have been on a journey of unpacking my own whiteness and the role I play in perpetrating white supremacy through direct or indirect use of my power and privilege. I commit to be open to feedback about ways in which my actions or words have caused harm and to create a safe space for BIPOC individuals in a historically unsafe, pathologizing, and stigmatizing setting. I commit to be culturally affirming in my practice. I commit to challenging racist actions in my practice and in my community.

Anti-Diet Culture

I approach the relationship with food and exercise from an Intuitive Eating lens. I honor the Health at Every Size approach to understanding the overlap between weight and health care. I support folks in navigating a relationship to food, exercise and their body that is respectful, honors internal wisdom, and addresses personally meaningful goals for health.

Anti-Ableist

As an able-bodied and neurodiverse therapist, I believe in working to create safety and inclusion in the my practice and community for people who have cognitive or physical differences. I commit to being strengths-focused and to work on finding ways to live a full and meaningful life. I commit to being open to and supportive of people who have visible or invisible disabilities of all natures.
